Scotty Brown Aftermath

January 20, 2010

Something happened last night in the bay state that I could have imagined. No, Lenny Clarke didn't get his vocal chords surgically removed. But a Republican has been elected to a Massachusetts Senate seat.

Now, you say, "Big deal, man. Those Massholes elected that GOP Olympics guy as their governor like 8 years ago." True. But this isn't ANY elected government position. This is Edward Kennedy's seat. This is the Kennedy seat. This is where they have staked their claim since Eisenhower was building the United States highway system.

What does this really mean, though? And what does it mean for President Obama's Health Care reform?

To tell you the truth, I think it means the end of the health care reform. The words Universal Health care sound so exotic when being rolled off the tongue. When a presidential candidate is able to touch your heart with stories of people who don't have sufficient, people can relate. However, when the figures started to appear on how much this was going to cost, I think people got scared. We had a massive deficit thanks to these wars and bailouts and people began to realize that this is not the time to pile on more spending.

My dad asked me about 10 years ago how I felt about health care and how accessible it should be to Americans. I was young and naive and I told him, "Dad, everyone should have the ability to be healthy and be medically supported." I'll never forget the way he looked at me after I said that. It was like he knew that is what I was supposed to believe. That is what every sensible naive young teenage would believe. Everyone DESERVES health care.

No one DESERVES anything. People earn what they deserve. That is what this great nation was built on.

Work and Reward.

Maybe "Arbeit macht frei"

No that's to far...
