Political Shambles

Politics.

It defines every American. Choosing between the left and right is almost as strictly defined as the preference of crunchy or creamy peanut butter. There is no escaping your core beliefs as they will follow you for the remainder of your life. Your friends and colleagues will know who you have supported and who you have opposed.

And this is what is wrong with this country. It is divided. It is torn between two completely different groups of people who believe in two completely different ideologies. They will never come together and the American media will constantly be spoon feeding the public their own agenda. As much as I disagree with the likes of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, their stance on American politics and media is pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey's-ass correct.

Where do we turn? Who do we decided to believe? As long as I have been alive the two major American parties have flip flopped their government power. The House, Senate and White House turn over as much as an entry level sales job. How can we develop trust in one particular party or ideology if we don't see their plan through?

Americans are impatient.

At heart, we are go-getters. We want results. We strive to be the best. We drop out of college to become the world's leading decision-makers and billionaires. If things aren't going our way, we want change. We want a different course. Get the hell out of our political offices and give us someone new who will do the exact same thing and manipulate their power for their own personal success.

I am fiscally conservative. I vote republican across the board. But to say I didn't have some hope when Barak Obama came to office is a lie. This man ran on changing the political landscape. He ran on merging the aisles together. He may have never spoke those specific words but he wanted the American people to believe this was his plan. The fact of the matter is he is no different than any other politician.

Do I blame him?

No. I don't. One man can't change Washington. It's impossible.

To change this country we will have to change it ourselves. We, being the American people. Washington is chest-deep in their own shit and they can't crawl out. A change in the governing house will not do a thing but redirect the country towards a new shallow, corrupt agenda.

Republicans and Democrats don't change this country. The American people do.
